Vermont Restoration

For over ten years Nichols Woodworking has been restoring an early nineteenth century farmhouse in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont as a showcase for our work.
Our goal was clearly to not alter the feel and character of the house. Early in the project the decision was made to not straighten or level the original structure. Initially we gutted the interior walls while preserving the original floors, staircases, doors, hardware, windows, and trims. We have been able to maintain the look and feel of an 1815 home. Recent projects include restoring original windows with hand blown glass panes, milk paint farm kitchen, mudroom cabinetry and butternut linen closet. The surrounding fields are managed equally for hay production and song bird nesting. The woodland is managed for sustainable timber harvesting and wildlife habitat.
